504. John Heap was born 05 Dec 1750 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He died 26 Mar 1828 in Newville, Pennsylvania and was buried in Big Spring Presbyterian Cemetery. John married Margarett Kerr.
Only surviving son of George Heap and second wife Mary Jacobs. Moved to Carlisle, in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, where he was listed as a storekeeper in 1779‑81, and was also a resident of Shippensburg. According to the Heap Family records, "John erected two fine residences, a handsome brick one in Carlisle, which was for some years owned by James Hamilton, Esq., and bequeathed by him to the town of Carlisle to be used as a public library. The other was a large stone mansion in Shippensburg, PA where his younger children were born. His wife had great moral force of character, possessing the inflexible virtues of her Scotch Presbyterian ancestors. John often spoke of seeing General Lafayette."
Died intestate. Buried in the Big Spring Presbyterian Cemetery.
